Shamu Attacks

A trainer was injured during a show Wednesday at SeaWorld Adventure Park in San Diego after Shamu the killer whale grabbed his foot and pulled him underwater twice, authorities said.

The 39-year-old man was taken to a hospital and was listed in good condition. Fox News has a lame video here .

We are keeping a close eye on our own Shamu for the foreseeable future ;-)

Pelosium 210

From RealClearPolitics.com comes The Nancy I Knew by Ethan Wallison who paints Pelosi as vain, petty, sneaky,
vindictive, having a situational sense of propriety, one who banishes opponents, among other things.

It makes her sound like the Red Queen.

And from laweekly.com's archives comes a 2002 article entitled Pelosi's Problems by Doug Ireland who discusses Pelosi's career "as a classic example of checkbook politics" and her ties to big money special interests.

It makes her sound like a crooked politician, just like her dad, Big Tommy D'Alesandro, the corrupt mayor of Baltimore.

And she will be scary close to the Presidency.

God help us all.

On the occasion of The Blog's 1000th post, a little unabashed self-promotion.

I'm looking forward to the next 1000.

Moore Voyage

The Cougar Ace listing 60 degrees to port. Michael Moore was reportedly asked to refrain from moving to the sides of the ship and remain in the center.

I can't resist gratuitous Michael Moore lardbutt humor ;-)

Kramer Clamor

The Kramer brouhaha continues to make the news. He is a loathsome offensive brute yet the media can't look away either.

Bob Weir makes some interesting points about it and the state of race relations in The Crucifixtion Of Kramer at the American Thinker.

It's not a view point you're going to see in the MSM.

Happy Thanksgiving

I'm thankful for many things this year, big and small. One small one is that Blogger finally let me post today ;-)

Seriously, I hope all of you who visit here have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and remember those separated from their families or those not as fortunate as you.

Nazi Archives Unsealed

From the online Jerusalem Post comes this disturbing article about the unsealing of a vast archive of Nazi atrocities - 16 miles of files! - containing the fullest records of Nazi persecutions in existence which has been kept closed to the public for half a century by the International Tracing Service, or ITS, an arm of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Yeah, fifty years later and only after pressure from the U.S. and survivors'groups.

Remember this article the next time you write checks to your favorite charity.

Unsafe Is Safe?

In case you're wondering, "Verkeersbordvrij" means "free of traffic signs," and the policy of no traffic rules whatsoever has already become reality in Makkinga, in the Dutch province of Western Frisia.

Seven cities and regions in European Union are also adopting the measure to remove all traffic signs. Read about the chaos, er... the free and humane interaction between drivers and pedestrians here .

I think it is very telling that the article mentions a demand for "streets like those during the Middle Ages, when horse-drawn chariots, handcarts and people scurried about in a completely unregulated fashion."

I always worry when people harken back to the idyllic ways of the Middle Ages.

Illiterate Slasher

From Christopher Hitchins, my favorite commie, comes The
'Confession': An illiterate double-murder's killer book
in which he points out that the illiterate O.J.Simpon not only couldn't have written his new book, he also wouldn't be able to read it.

Hitchins reminds us that the infamous suicide letter, later found in the Bronco, was corrected by reporters before it was released to the public!.

An interesting analysis of the suicide note plus the corrections can be found here .

So the plot thickens...

I am Locatus of Borg. Resistance is futile. Your life as it has been is over. From this time forward, you will service us. You will be assimilated. Lower your shields and surrender your kibbles. Remote Heist

From the stupid criminals files comes this doozy about a thief in southwestern France who returned to the home from which he had just stolen a TV to pick up the remote control!

Alert neighbours tipped off the police and the thief was arrested.

The police didn't have to be remotely Columbo-like to catch a thief this dumb.

Simpson Saga

No, not OJ!

For obvious reasons, I'm not going to spend time on O.J.Simpson's latest "iffy" statements. This post will cover his understandably troubled daughter, 20 year-old Sydney Brooke Simpson.

I first posted about Sidney's 2005 arrest in Tsk, Tsk, Syndey and since then, the words "Sydney Brooke Simpson" have brought The BLOG more hits than any other search words.

Amazing, but true.

Hit hog that I am, I'm posting this update:

Sydney Brooke Simpson has been charged to 50 hours of community service for swearing at police officers to stop a fight outside a basketball game at her prep school and slapping a cop's hand during the arrest.

Tsk, tsk, Sydney.

Now, bring on the hits.

Murtha Muck

If you thought you knew all about Rep. John Murtha's shady dealings, you haven't seen anything yet. From the WSJ opinion journal comes this hair-raising article that details just how deep Murtha's corruption runs.

John Fund's excellent piece, Meet the New Boss , gives new insight into the real "culture of corruption", especially in light of House Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi's endorsement of Murtha for majority leader.

Sheesh!

Pelosi hasn't even risen to the Speaker position yet and she's already screwing up.

This is going to be an interesting couple of years.

Outlander Kerry

From the New York Post comes Out Of The Picture where Ian Bishop writes, "Foot-in-mouth former presidential candidate John Kerry yesterday appeared stunned to find himself left in the dust by the party's top new power players, whose leaders include Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY)".

Stunned is the word for the look on Kerry's face. Click on the photo for a laugh.

Dog Tech

From RealTechNews comes Disturbing Dog Technologies such as the Poopsadaisy...a pack that carries your dog's poop around its neck.

Or the Dog-Powered Scooter... so that your dog can carry you and it's own poop all over town.

Mostly, it does seem like dogs are on the losing end of high tech gadget advances.

Face Bra?

Hailed as the latest anti-ageing miracle... would you wear a face bra?

Before you answer, go here to read about the price of ageless beauty.

Yikes, that thing reminds me of the old B movie, "The Brain That Would Not Die."

One of my favorite movies, but the unfortunate character of the diembodied head, played by Virgina Leith, is not one I would like to emulate.

I'll think pass on the face bra.

I grow old. I grow old. I will wear my trousers rolled.

;-)

Out of Grand Rapids, Iowa comes this cautionary tale about teens and alcohol.

It's all fun and games until someone loses their eyebrows.

It's good that there are replacement kits all over the Internet in all colors.

Speedy Cubers

From Reuters comes a story about the upcoming Competitive Rubik's Cube Solving Contest .

This weekend Tyson Mao, 22, will try to regain the title of world blindfold Rubik's Cube champion, a title he lost last year to his friend Leeann Loo who beat his time of one minute 58 seconds by 30 seconds.

1 minute 28 seconds... blindfolded?????

Mao took up playing with Rubik's Cubes about three years ago, introduced to the puzzle by his younger brother Toby who currently holds the world record for solving the Rubik's Cube -- 10.48 seconds.

10.48 seconds?????

Yikes!

The Speaker Speaks

I woke up this morning and I heard Nancy Pelosi say:

"We nude a nee direction."

Yikes, we nude a nee speekur.

Perilous Pelosi

Under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi(D-CA)...

* 91% of Democrats voted against terrorist surveillance legislation.
* 83% of Democrats voted against military tribunals for terrorists.
* 79% of Democrats voted against the Patriot Act.

Frightful looks aside, the really scary thing about Nancy Pelosi are her politics.

She doesn't speak for me.

And she shouldn't speak for the House.

Get out and vote Republican.

High Stakes Vote

From World Net Daily comes this sobering article entitled Mideast Terror Leaders To U.S.: Vote Democrat .

--Jihad Jaara, senior member of al Aksa Martyr Brigade, wants you to vote democratic.

--Muhammad Saadi, senior leader of Islamic Jihad, wants you to vote democratic.

--Abu Abdullah, leader of Hamas' military wing, wants you to vote democratic.

--Abu Ayman, Islamic Jihad leader in Jenin, wants you to vote democratic.

Who do you think is going to keep you safer?

Think before you vote...

Then vote Republican.

The Clean Dead

From the strange rituals department, comes this story about the Day of the Dead celebrations in the Yucatan village of Pomuch, where families exhume their dead after three years in the grave and clean their dried bones and skulls – often with hair attached – and then transfer them to wooden crates on permanent display in open funeral niches.

*shudder* I'm glad I'm not a Mayan.

Dog Vader

The Sith Pug.

Just a little silliness because I need a break from the politics...

The Joke's On Kerry

Our troops drop a "smart bomb" on Kerry.

But you'd have a hard time finding it because the liberal press is in full Dems protection mode. This wonderful photo didn't make the pages of the N.Y. Times, or the Boston Globe, the Washington Times, or any major newspaper, except for the New York Post that printed it on the cover.

Despite all the help from his liberal pals in the MSM, the botched joke explanation & non-apology won't absolve Kerry. His history of ridiculous charges against our military, now some from 1972, stands alone and reveals his true self, namely that of an unpatriotic fool.

And Kerry is not alone. The liberals have an anti-military bias that predisposes them to be soft on terror and soft on defense.

Remember this when you vote on Tuesday.

Kerry Kerfuffle

John Kerry opens mouth and promptly inserts foot.

The latest Kerry faux pas is BIG news, especially when the midterm election is so close. You'd think it would be front page news, right?

Wrong. It depends on which paper you read.

The New York Times put it on page 18, and then, 15 paragraphs into the story!

Sheesh! No wonder their readership is way down.
