Danish Zookeepers Kill Baby Giraffe Then Fed Him To The Lions
I've taken enough biology classes to understand the need for culling a herd, preventing genetic inbreeding, and all the excuses given by the Copenhagen Zoo.
What I don't understand is the dismemberment of a giraffe IN FRONT OF A CROWD INCLUDING MANY CHILDREN and then feeding the parts to the lions.
What were they thinking?
Once I was asked in an education class (Of all classes!): "If you could be an animal, what animal would you be -- and why?"
ReplyDeleteI responded: "A giraffe -- because it's tall."
This giraffe should never have been hacked up in front on an audience! Are the Danes a bloodthirsty lot?
Cube - I'm with you on this one.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they had a reason for killing a giraffe but not in front of a crowd. Especially a crowd with children present.
I don't get this either. Not one bit. This just makes me angry that there is a crowd and sad that this was done.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific day. ☺
Nothing wrong with feeding the giraffe to the lions. Plenty wrong with the parents bringing their children to watch.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with people? This is insane.
ReplyDeleteAlways On Watch: Just curious, but did you want to be a giraffe because you were tall yourself?
ReplyDeleteI never thought of the Danes as a bloodthirsty lot, but I'm reconsidering it.
Sue Hanes: It was an awful spectacle.
ReplyDeleteSandee: I agree. I can't imagine taking any one of my children to such an horrific spectacle.
ReplyDeleteGranny Annie: I'm in total agreement. We kill animals all the time for food, but hopefully this is done behind the scenes and not in front of children. This is something that they should be old enough to see.
ReplyDeleteRobin: I can't fathom it either. I don't know what cultural situation we're witnessing here, but it's just plain crazy to me.
ReplyDeleteCube,
ReplyDeletedid you want to be a giraffe because you were tall yourself?
Just the opposite! I'm just a smidgeon over 5 feet tall.
Where's PETA?
ReplyDeleteAlways On Watch: Wishful thinking then ;-) I'm almost there... I'm 5'4".
ReplyDeleteWoodsterman (Odie): Where indeed?
