Galactic Debate: Phaser Vs. Light Saber

The universes of Star Trek and Star Wars reach their final frontiers this month.

Enterprise's finale is slated for 5/13/05 with no plans for another series to replace it, making it the first time since 1987 that there is no prime time Star Trek TV series.

Episode III: Return of the Sith is the final installment in the series of Star Wars films that debuted in 1977.

With these 2 franchises coming to an end, there remains one question that has yet to be answered: Which is better, Star Trek or Star Wars?

The Toledo Blade assembled a panel of local experts (losers) to settle the argument once and for all... read it here

Trek gets my vote!

Oh, I can't wait for Episode III either. We finally get to see the genesis of Darth Vader-- the best thing to come out of Star Wars.

But if I have to choose...there is no doubt...

Trek rules!

Phasers are just guns, where as light sabers are elegant and if you know the force it will be even handier for opening that forgotten tupperware from long, long ago...

Sammy, I have several pics related to Star Wars on my blog although if you have sensitive sensabilities please don't go.

Ah, the age-old debate: SW vs ST.
When phasers go up against light sabers, I'll take the light saber any day of the week. At least, if there's a full-fledged jedi wielding it (They can deflect phaser blasts, you know).
By the by, this isn't the end of Star Wars. Lucas is planning two television series for the franchise, due to begin in about a year...

You have to get in close to the enemy with a light saber. A phaser can be used from afar & you can stun with it. Comon, clearly the phaser is the better weapon.

Hm, I don't really think of that as a fair question as they are both different genres really. Trek is science fiction and Wars is more science fantasy. I like and dislike them each for different reasons, but I don't know that really prefer one over the other.
