Akira Ifukube 1915-2006
Akira Ifukube, the music composer best known for writing the scores of the popular "Godzilla" movies, died in a Tokyo hospital on Wednesday. He was 91.
As a long-time fan of Godzilla movies, I am very saddened by his passing.
We love Godzilla! I didn't notice this in the news, thanks for bringing it up.
I just spent a while searching around for the original "Gojira," so we could watch it. It was a bit tricky to find a version from before the Raymond Burr makeover, that had English subtitles. It's on its way to me right now!
Godzilla will never dance the same again. It's always sad to lose talent from this world. We're sorry.
ReplyDeleteAlso a big Godzilla fan, I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Maybe in heaven he can correctly sync American dialogue with the Japanese spoken film...;)
ReplyDeleteSorry, just a little levity on a heavy day. Hope you don't take offense cube.
No offense taken, rgmb.

jen: Funny that you would mention Godzilla's original name. I posted about it a while back go here, if you're interested in an oldie-but-goodie post and was accused of being offensive & butchering the Japanese language by a PC loser.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED those movies as a kid. I'm glad he lived a long life.
ReplyDeleteCube, my hubby is huge Godzilla fan too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mothra could spread his ashes over Japan.
