Bonehead Beckham

Soccer superstar David Beckham, has said his six-year-old son's math homework leaves him baffled.

"Their homework is so hard these days," Beckham, 30, said in a recent interview. "It's totally done differently to what I was teached when I was at school, and you know I was like 'Oh my God, I can't do this'."

Hmmm. Teached? Sounds like English isn't his forte either.

  1. Well, you know what they say about the effects of all those headers playing soccer.

He is one of the lucky few who can make a living doing something that doesn't require any academic skill.

But in today's society, it is depressing how much of our talent we are wasting. Smart kids, wasted because no one makes it clear to them how important school is, and by the time they figure it out as a thirty year old working part time for minimum wage at Burger King, they are lucky if they can find a way to go to a community college and earn their G.E.D.

  2. Hopefully the kid's nannies are helping him out with his homework, discipline, and morality influences.

  3. He said that his ex-Spice Girl wife is the brains in the relationship.

    Gulp.

  4. Yes, I can hardly believe that Spice mom is the intellectual in that family. I feel for those kids.

  5. Well, Becks is British, I think they can abuse the language like that. (Even though we think it sounds ignorant.)

  6. I think that "teached" is "taught" regardless of your accent, though the Brit-speak does make everything sound more refined.

I too am dismayed that the pencil masquerading as a woman is the brains behind the Beckham operation. She wasn't even the smartest Spice Girl. This is very sad for Britain.

  7. tlm & jessey: I don't care how British he sounds, the man can't do math at the level of a 6-year-old & he has trouble conjugating an easy verb like teach. Blimey, he is dumb.

jessey: Yeah, but we have mental pygmies like Brittney Spears...so feel sad for America while you're at it ;-)

  8. A six year old's math is only first grade math. I can't imagine where the difficulty lies. We're talking addition and subtraction at its basic level.
He definitely was not teached good.

  9. j.d.: I know! We're not talking differential calculus, here, for Pete's sake. What kind of head shots has this guy been taking during those soccer matches?

  10. Good thing he doesn't homeschool!!!

Funny, I was reading this with my 10 year old son and we both laughed at the 'teached' even before reading your comment. LOL

  11. m.c.p.: amen to that! Your 10-year old spotted it right away. Good for you!

  12. Don't hate him because he's beautiful. ;)

(yes, he's on my fantasy list though obviously NOT for his brains)

  13. Cube - he actually sounds remarkably squeeky, rather than wonderfully British.

Sar - obvioulsy not for his manly voice either!

  14. With such native mental luminaries as Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, I've almost given up hope for America.
I can only hope that my own children will grow to be ubersmart and not soulless, brainless dolts. If they do end up that way though, I'll have solace knowing that it wasn't what I teached them. :)

  15. sar: down girl.

caz: I've never heard him squeak, I mean speak ;-)

    jessey: yore sayed it write.

  16. Cube - not sure if you're serious; you've really never heard Beckham talk?? If not, then I can but warn that you would be instantly doubled up with laughter if you did, purely from surprise, if nothing else. He has a very high pitched girly voice. It's a similar incongruity as to that of Mike Tyson and his voice - have you heard Tyson talk? Well, Beckham's voice is just as silly - for a man.

  17. caz: honestly, I've never heard Beckham speak. I do, however, understand your Tyson analogy, because I have heard him speak many times. A girly voice, eh? Too funny. Thanks for the clue.

  18. It is a good thing he can kick a soccer ball. He sure isn't a Rhodes Scholar.

But, he's rich, good looking, and has a hot wife. It wouldn't be fair if he was smart, too!
