Fido Danger!

We got this flyer in the mail from our friends at the Post Office:

Florida has 1 million hungry gators running around chomping on people and they're concerned about dogs?

Get some pepper spray and stop clogging up the mail delivery system.

  1. And how much money did the Post Office waste making those flyers? And the postal rates keep going up for this?

  2. Having worked in insurance, I can't tell you how many claims come in for dog bites. Owners need to control their pets, that's for sure.

I need to get some flyers for "National Paper Cut Prevention Week."

  3. a tried and proven method - for me anyway - is to turn on the dog, start jumping up and down while barking and growling - honest to God it worked for me twice. the dogs stopped dead in their tracks, gave that dumb-dog cocked head look, tucked their tails between their legs and turned and walked away - totally defeated. once on a bicycle a large lab type dog started chasing and i didn't have the benefit of this tried and true technique - but i was buttholes and elbows peddling as fast as i could!

animals smell fear, so if you show none their olfactory gets jammed and they don't want to mess with you.

i will gladly, for a hefty fee, go train postal workers in this fine art of showing dogs who the boss is!

  4. that's a good one, phoenix!

get ahold of the tree huggers and let them make this their cause - talk about a waste of paper.

  6. What I don't get is that it shows a mailman actually delivering a piece of mail to the door - I haven't seen mail away from a gangbox in so long it's not even funny...

  7. I don't get it... Do Floridians just leave their front doors wide open? How do the dogs get the postmen?

    ARGH!

  8. brooke: LOL! No. In Florida if you leave your door open without a screen you'll get lots of unwelcome visitors, including bugs, lizards, geckos, spiders, and yes, even gators!

I think the photo shows a door opening and a dog making a mad dash out. My dog obeys commands to stay, but many dogs don't.

  9. Don't people in Florida have mailboxes? Why does the Postman have to illegally enter your home to give you your mail?

That dog is just defending his turf, that postman could be a serial killer dressed as a postman, or worse, an alligator dressed as a postman.
Where are the flyers for National Imposter Postman Awareness Week? Hmm?

    You never know.

  14. our post-people deliver to our doors in our neighborhood, and they carry doggy treats to try to make friends. Were I a postal carrier, I'd carry one big honkin can o'pepper spray.
