Cat Burglar

This 1-year-old cat named Willy, steals garden gloves from unknown yards in his neighborhood in Pelham, N.Y. He has brought home nine pairs of gloves and five singles over several weeks laying them on his owners' front or back porches.

This cat gives new meaning to the term cat burglar ;-)

Guard your garden gloves!

  2. Yeah Cube cats do some funny things. My friend has a burmeese
cat that is into pilfering. Funny thing is though he seems to have a penchant for stuffed toys.

He is one naughty kitty upsetting the neighborhoods litlle kids, stealing their toys.

  3. cube, I was just getting ready to send this to you, but again you beat me to it! Pelham is very close to where I live, so I'd better take care when I garden.

  4. kathy: cats are wonderful creatures, but they can pick up bad habits. Nothing is more singleminded than a cat who wants to do something.

rgmb: I'm always on the look out for cat tales ;-)

BTW the word verification for this comment is moobhat. If that isn't a real word, it should be. I think I'll make it my domain name ;-)

  5. Except, maybe, a ferret! I'm trying to teach (HAHAHA) mine to NOT sleep in the litterbox. At least he snoozes in the corner he doesn't use...

My cat has a thing for stealing my daughter's hair bands. They all wind up under the couch, or in the back of my closet.

  6. Brook, you must be a good housekeeper; I haven't seen the back of my closet in months! For all I know there might be a family of four living back there.

  7. Our Siamese mix stole the laser pointer and squirreled it somewhere. We've never found it, and she hid it over three years ago.

I wonder if Willy's owners use garden gloves and he's trying to provide a supply.

  11. Cats are unpredictable. That's one reason why cat lovers love them so much.

caz: Yes, you did say it & I'm glad you're coming clean ;-)

etchen: Willy does steal some of the gloves in pairs... just not all of them. He is, after all, a cat.

  13. Oddly enough, I just had a cat try to take one of my gloves last night. I was stunned when she just took a brief sniff of the used-once glove and took off into the woods with it. I had to chase her through some pretty dense underbrush to get it back. When I picked it up, she looked at me like I was stealing her dinner!

  14. the_izit: Cool. I think cats are smell-driven & are attracted to the smell.
