Safe Landing

The space shuttle Discovery angles towards the runway as workers look on as it completes Mission STS-121 at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

It was too cloudy to see the launch, but we did manage to hear the double sonic booms which, this time, sounded much like distant thunder because of it's approach from a more southerly direction.

Whew!

  1. I hear that the pilot couldn't see the runway until they were right on top of it! One helluva landing!

  2. Landing the shuttle must be one heck of a rush. I'm just glad they're down safely.

  4. I'm a supporter of the shuttles &, most likely, I'll be a supporter of the next generation vehicle as well because fundamentally, I think we need to be out in space.
