Extreme Origami

From Discover.com comes The Extreme Sport of Origami a fascinating article about breakthroughs in creating complex origami shapes.

Shown above is a chinese dragon by master origamist Satoshi Kamiya who prefers to make his models without the aid of any computer program.

Click on the dragon to see the intricate detail.

Wow. That puts my flying crane to shame.

  1. Woah...you can make a flyng crane? I've tried repeatedly and the best I can do is a paper flower. ;-( That dragon is amazing!

  5. I made my first crane in 2nd grade and I've been an origami fan ever since. Over the years I've learned to make many more things, but that crane remains my favorite.

It has put a smile on many a child's face. They love pulling the tail & making the wings flap.

Origami is cool to watch, and takes a good deal of precision. I'm envious!
