Fishy Pelosi Business

On Wednesday, the House voted to raise the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 per hour everywhere except on the island of American Samoa.

Why is that significant?

75% of Samoa is employed by Starkist Tuna. Starkist Tuna's parent company is Del Monte Corp., whose headquarters just happen to be in San Franciso, Speaker Pelosi's home district.

The Washington Times wrote about it GOP Hits Pelosi's 'Hypocrisy' On Wage Bill , but don't expect significant changes.

A spokeswoman for Mrs. Pelosi said Wednesday that the speaker has not been lobbied in any way by StarKist or Del Monte.

Just like I don't think Democrats deserve a stoopid pass, they don't deserve a corruption pass either.

  3. Ah, yes! Just another reminder that, as far as I personally am concerned, all politicians are not to be believed. Maybe they smile so broadly because they still speak out of both sides of their mouths!

  4. These weasels must be watched because it pays to be vigilant.

Once confronted by this, Pelosi quickly backed off, saying that it was an oversight and Samoa will be included. Let's see if she really means it.

  12. Every company tries to lobby for sweetheart "deals" from the government. It's up to the politicians to resist the temptation.

Pelosi's father was one of Baltimore's most crooked politicians. She & her brother learned on his knee.

Pelosi wouldn't get away with her ethical irregularities without the complicit assistance of the MSM.

  13. Boycott tuna? I will have no problem with that...I have three fresh ones in my freezer that I caught on a recent fishing trip.

    Have a great weekend!

  14. ... haven't been lobbied?

    Yeah, right.

Tuna workers are the only people evidently not requiring and deserving of a pay increase.

    Yeah, right.

    The Democrats officially suck.

Pelsoi is one hell of a piece of work.

It's going to be a long two years for the rest of us.

  17. rain: Fresh tuna is delicious. When's dinner? ;-)

caz: I always wanted to see women in positions of power, but I forgot to add that I wanted competent women!
Pelosi can't help but screw up because she isn't up to the job.

nanc: she learned from her daddy.

brooke: maybe to save time we can just call it Big Fish Oil ;-)
