beckeye: Actually it's been done for years now. Roddenberry's ashes were sent up with those of Timothy Leary's, the Guru of LSD -- not LDS ;-) In the old days they were allowed to orbit until the orbit decayed.
Frankly I thought that was way cooler, but they have realized how dangerous a lipstick-sized projectile could be to the shuttle & the space station. Now your ashes go up in a rocket & then come back to earth.
It's like I tell my daughters, you don't like the way women are portrayed in the media, then get out there & do it better. It won't change until you change it.
