Long List Of Bias

Randell Hoven of The American Thinker has compiled a list of fallen journalists and media screw-ups that will knock your socks off.

Really, it is a shock to see these 62 incidents (and counting) in list form.

It's Not Just Scott Beauchamp

Next time someone argues that there is no liberal bias in the media, pull out this list and smack them squarely in the face with it.

  1. These are only the ones that have been verified. Who knows how many other instances there have been that we just accept as true.

  2. Exactly, Cube. I'll bet you a doughnut that this isn't even a scratch on the surface!

  3. "Media screw-ups?" Isn't that redundant at this point? :)

  5. I love Chuck Klosterman's take on the liberal media bias in his "Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs" book. Hilarious!

  6. brooke: I like chocolate covered doughnuts with sprinkles, but I won't take that bet. We've been snowed by the MSM for years & years.

    beckeye: You got it.

angel: I know it. You know it, but our liberal friends don't. I like this list because I can print up a copy & use it to flog them until they drop or listen to reason. Whichever comes first.

d.a.: Thanks. I'll have to look it up.

  7. Cube, have you ever had a strawberry frosted doughnut?

I usually don't go for fruity stuff, but MMmmmmm.... :)

  8. I'm strictly a chocolate girl when it comes to doughnuts. Gimme a glazed... now & then.

(Sorry couldn't resist the Zippy the Pinhead reference)

  9. No comment on the media. Couldn't say it better than everyone else here already has!

Love those de-motivator posters! Have you seen these?

Some of them are hilarious, some are just awesome.

  10. Great piece, but it's only looking at outright lies and plagarism, etc; the "big" stuff.

The problem with MSM is much bigger than the list suggests.

    See Slate article:

    "REIGN OF ERROR IN MSM"

Professor finds 46% errors in MSM, but only 2% corrected

  11. jenny: I took a look. Thanks. They are awesome. I'm particular to the ones with the Shepherds :-)

caz: Thanks. Good article. But I don't equate dumb errors with the deliberate falsification and/or ommision of facts in order to promote a personal agenda. The latter is more insidious.

  12. Ah, big mistake!

The Prof wasn't merely talking about "dumb errors"!

I see it as being on the same continuum.

Letting errors stand, significant errors, is definitely part of the great disregard, perhaps even contempt, with which the MSM treat the public and take their responsibilities, non?

Just as not getting the facts straight before publishing is an act of contempt?

It's only in the "revealed" cases that we find out how far, and how deeply, the practice goes.

  13. caz: I'll cede your point about errors, big & small, being part of the same continuum. The big picture is their disregard for TRUTH.

That being said, misspelling a name, or referring to a 21 year old as a 20 year old are quite far (on the continuum) from journalists who make up stories, or use documents they know to be fake.

  14. "The big picture is their disregard for TRUTH.

    Yes, yes!

That's what I was getting at!

Their disregard for ethics and morals too, it would seem, based on the list of proven offenses.
