Where Are They Now?



Remember the sitcom "Full House"? This is Jodie Sweetin who played middle child "Stephanie Tanner" on the show. She is a recovering meth addict now.

I'm happiest about Danica McKellar, "Winnie Cooper" from "The Wonder Years". I never watched the show, but I did buy her book, "Math Doesn't Suck", for my daughter for Christmas.

    No, I've never seen Full House (believe it or not), but that list is fascinating.

    zydeco fish: I never watched the show during its run either, but my daughters love the reruns and I have been exposed to it as a result.

    The whole arena of kid stars and kid beauty queens, etc... really bothers me.
    We entered our daughter into a beauty pageant when she was four that was held in a neighboring city. We did this to prepare her for our local kiddie pageant that took place at the town's Fall Festival every year.
    What I witnessed there was hitonious. I asked God to forgive me for EVER putting my child into a beauty pageant, and I had to explain to my four year old why she would not be entering the local pageant along with her friends. From that day on, I have had an aversion towards stage parents who put their kids into things for THEIR gratificaiton, not the kids'. I was guilty of this, and when I saw how other mothers who had become pros at being stage mothers were treating their daughters, I was appalled beyond belief. Child stardom/pageantry makes kids feel like they are only valued when they are winners or "the best." It's no wonder child stars become messes after their star stops shining in the public's eye.
    The effect of child stardom is usually negative, as we've seen time and time again. I know there are exceptions, but with the sad track record, I don't know how wise it is to push one's child into that kind of arena.
    Whew! I was on a soap box there, wasn't I??

    We already KNEW who voices Patrick because we are big time Spongebob fans!!!

    j.d.: I agree. The pageant scene isn't one that appeals to me either. Remember the photos of Jon Benet? Very tragic.

    You could do a lot worse than be the voice of Patrick Star.

    Just watching one episode of Full House can make you turn to drugs, so this isn't surprising.

    I had seen an interview with the math chick. She rocks. And daggone, I wish I had just once in my life looked like that.

    In all fairness, I might be a meth addict, too, if I were forced to spend that much time with Bob Saget.

    brooke: Maybe Saget felt some responsibility and that's why he intiated the intervention that brought her into rehab. I'm just saying.
