Valentine Greetings

I really don't like the build-up to Valentine's Day... the numerous ads for over-priced jewelry are annoying, and the endless Teddy Bear & Pajama-gram commercials are insulting, to say the least.

I do like the chocolate, especially tomorrow when it's discounted by 50% ;-)

  2. Ah yes, a true romantic! Sort of. I will always remember how the day would go at the hospital business office where I used to work. We could see all the people coming in the front door. The women would get all excited when the florists would bring in the flowers. Unless the husband/boyfriend did not send flowers to the job. Some women would go home angry. Dumb!

  3. angel: I liked the poem too. The holiday, not so much. It's become so artificial, especially the commercials that have beeen running all week.

jill: I agree. I think buying flowers is entirely too easy. I'd rather have a more thoughtful gift.

Also, maybe it's just me, but watching flowers die is not a pleasant experience.

  4. Ah yes, that is beautiful - picture and sentiment!

    Check out this grass-eating baboon:

The Gelada baboons are most interesting with their big canine teeth, yet all they eat is grass!

I can just hear Carl Sagan saying something like that...

  6. My late husband wouldn't buy me roses...he bought rosebushes so I could have roses most of the year! Then took care of them to maximize the output...I liked my hubby-do's ideas!

  7. eyes: Perhaps they used to eat meat but turned vegan ;-)

brooke: I can hear that too, but I know he'd add the word billion in there somewhere.

tmw: Now that's thinking. He sounds like he was a great guy.

  10. eyes: Maybe a chit chat, but from a distance ;-)

nanc: I wish all that discounted chocolate could lift my current mood, but I think only time will help.

  11. Lovely choice for Valentine's Day Cube.

Merry Widow - beaut bloke, your late husband, a loving and thoughtful idea. Beats a dozen long stem roses.
