Sorry, I was reading a book about hidden dimensions and cosmology when my science knowledge and my science fiction knowledge collided.

  8. j.d.: Glad you liked it.

m.c.: I'm glad you were honest. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Branes -- membrane-like objects in higher dimensional space are a constituent of string theory, one of the physics theories that tries to explain reality.

So when a physicist becomes a zombie, instead of yelling for brains like the other undead do,
    they yell for 'branes'.

It was just a small joke.

  9. I always write it 'branes to try to avoid confusion. As if anything in string theory can avoid confusion ...

  10. That's OK.

Troi doesn't understand cosmic strings either... ;)

  11. jill: Nobody really understands string theory. It's just that 'branes' is one of the contituents of the theory. Brains, branes. Like I said, it was a small joke.

d.a.: There you go. Confusion. That's string theory in one word.

brooke: Counselor Troi? Who is this Troi of which you speak?

  13. That's the thing about The BLOG... one days it's cats, and the next day it could be the nexus between zombies and theoretical physics.
