Racy Speech

Obama is set to give a big speech today about race in America...

and unity...

and hope...

and change...

I could pontificate about it here, but Thomas Sowell says is so much better:

Double Life Of Barack Obama: Wright Is Wrong For America.

Obama has a lot of explaining to do.

  1. Oh, blah, blah, blah. "insuring a full measure of justice..."

Where is the full measure of justice in the filthy words of Rev. Wright?

If a white preacher said the horrific things Wright said, he'd be run out of town.

  3. I just read the full transcript of the speech. Although I agree with much of the content of ths speech, and it was a great speech a compilation of very fine words, I also have for myself looked at Obama's voting record.

His pastor of twenty years, Wright, has gotton preferential treatment and a walk because he is black, that no white pastor would be given for spoutin the same hateful anti-American, race rhetoric.

It is a pity that such fine words in such a fine speech would be delivered by someone so false. It is really genious in marketing. Obama makes a great 'Honest Abe Cars', salesman. In fact, I am inpsired. If you buy into Obama's rhetoric, perhaps you would be willing to buy the brooklyn bridge, ocean front property in Arizona and a some cura all from me. ;)

  4. I heard the speech, and while it was beautifully delivered, it did not make me comfortable with the fact that he was under the mentoring of this pastor for years.
He is distancing himself now, but if he had excellent judgment, he would have gotten the heck away from this guy a long time ago.
Hate speech is hate speech no matter what the context. I do not want a president who doesn't have the sense to get away from someone who preaches hatred against our government and against white people.

  5. Obama was wrong to equate racial epithets from his white grandmother to the bucketloads of vile, hateful, anti-white, anti-American rhetoric from Pastor Wright. There is no parity between private utterances and those made to an audience and sold to the public on CD.

I question the judgement of a person who sits and listens to this mind-numbing stupidity for 20 years if he doesn't share the same beliefs.

  6. The bottom line of this speech though is a great ploy, even if a false one. Based on the content of the speech, it sums to this, I think. If Obama does not win the Democratic endorsement to run for President, those who do not back him do not want to deal with race issues and history of this country because they are racist. If Obama does get a chance to run on the democratic ticket for the presidency and looses, it will be interpreted that a major portion of his loss is due to racism of whites and not the fact that he is simply not qualified, amonst other things like being far, far to the left. What happens then, should he loose the democratic nod to run as the selected delegate or looses his run for the presedency? Riots, shooting, the burning of buildings? A false and avoidable deepening of seperations, disenchantment and an implied disenfranchisment? I hope not.

  7. I add a postscript, that should Obama win the presidency, I don't want to see a bunch of white supremist numb skulls running amuck, shooting, burning, and rioting either. Hopefully, whoever wins, the people of this country, all the people will rise to the moment and occasion and show demonstratively that we as a country have moved forward significantly from where this country has been in the 50's and 60's and later for instance, which I am not to old to have forgotten, concerning differences over skin color. rw

  8. rw: No one wants to see Helter Skelter.

Hillary does have an uphill battle if she plans to wrest the nomination from Obama though. The only way she'll get it fairly is if Obama candidacy spontaneously combusts. The Pastor Wright brouhaha certainly has the potential to hurt Obama.
