Pricey Camel

The crown prince of the United Arab Emirates of Dubai has bought a female camel for a record 2.72 million dollars, an organiser at a camel beauty pageant said on Monday.

Okay, this is whacked on soooo many levels.

  3. What in the world could be so special about a particular camel that it costs so much money? Unless it excreted diamonds, I wouldn't pay a penny over 2 million ;-)

  6. And I thought we had the corner on dumb beauty pagents. Well at least it wasn't a race horse. No wait didn't he already buy one?

  8. That camel looks a bit like Amy Winehouse. Right around the mouth.

Hey, my word verification is "fivel!" That precious little mouse! Ah, I don't know if he was precious, I never saw that stupid movie.

  9. Now, THERE'S a beauty pageant I could enter and do well in!! I'd not have to worry about the swimsuit competition either. At least MY legs are shaved.

    :-)

    CRAZY stuff!!!!

  10. I'm not surprised, and neither should you be. One only has to understand the romantic attachment Arabs have for camels, hardly a western tradition. Meanwhile, they keep their women covered up, which is also interesting.

Honestly, I quite often feel as if I am trapped in a time warp; I can't seem to get out of the early middle ages.

  11. yhtat: I meant every word. Glad you liked it.

brooke: I guess it's true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

jill: I guess when you have money to burn you can get carried away. Must be nice.

nanc: For that kind of money, she'd better have two humps!

beckeye: lol. I do see the resemblance, but for 2.7 million the camel better know how to sing.

    j.d.: lol.

mustang: I know that camels are referred to as "the ships of the desert" and a good one can save your life in a hostile land. This camel must have some awesome genes for breeding purposes.

  12. Nothing wacky about it. Plenty of people around the world pay obscene amounts for racing horses ... why not for racing camels?

Now if he paid that much to Hilary for Whitewater property, I'd be worried.

  13. d.a.: Bill may have a Dubai deal that beats the 2.7 mil for the camel. When you have that much money, I guess it's easy to throw it at just about anything.
