Air Ray

Meet the Festo Air_ray ...

"a remote-controlled hybrid construction consisting of a helium-filled ballonet and a beating wing drive. Its light design makes it possible for it to “swim” in the sea of air, boosted by helium, in a similar way to the manta ray in water."

Cool. It almost looks alive.

  4. womanhonorthyself: Everything is fine, just busy getting the cubelets back into the school groove - one college & one high school.

rav'n: Hello. Long time no see :-)

This Air_ray is one of those open-ended research things that doesn't exactly have a use per se, but it helps develop technology that will have an applied use one day.

Moldy growth leading to penicillin is just one example.

There are people who can see around corners that the rest of us don't even perceive as upcoming corners.

  5. I think it would have a good shot at being an experimental aircraft for individuals at fairly low cost. The only drawback would be that it could only fly on calm days.

I have been monitoring a erbsite that promised a personal helicopter that is much safer and more advanced than anything out now. I am afraid it may be "vaporware" though as it has been 2 years and still no craft.
