Long & Found

No it's not Friday yet, but I couldn't resist this story...

Lost Cat Returned Home After Nine Years

Dixie, a 15-year-old ginger (calico or tortoiseshell in USA) cat, disappeared in
1999...

I guess there's hope that our runaway cat, Psyche , will one day come home.

  1. i've heard of cats travelling several hundred miles to get back to their homes - one thing that works when moving with cats - when you get to your new home, take a piece of bacon and lightly rub it on their paws if they're outdoor cats - they won't leave. it does work.

  3. I remember your runaway kitty Cube.

One of the matching pair your little cube cub volunteered you for as I recall!

I tire of the whole love hate thing with cats: they need you and won't admit it as you might have "hand!" Thus you get the aloof condition unknown to the most worthwile of house pets... The Gerbil!

    Not.

Of course I refer to the Canine. Our best friend!

Good story and hopeful too for the return of your prodigal cat. How is her sister doing? Is she still a feral PITA with glamorous appeal?

  4. nanc: I've heard many stories about cats coming home, but Psyche ran out of our house on a cold morning and, as far as we know, never came back. It's the weirdest thing 'cause we've seen cats that look like her in the neighborhood, but just can't connect with her. It was just one of those things. She was a feral kitten who really hadn't imprinted on our house, I guess.

dd2: Cats are amazing creatures, but they do some dumb things sometimes.

QQ: It sounds like you've never experienced 'cat love', i.e., when a cat loves you in a dog-like way, when said cat passes other humans by & focuses on only you and begs, every morning, to be picked up by you, and only has eyes for you. Once you have experienced that, then come back & complain to me about cats and how dogs are your best friend.
