Cloneworthy Dog



James Symington of Los Angeles holds five clones of Trakr, his late search-and-rescue dog, who found the last human survivor in the rubble of the 9/11 attacks.

Symington received the clones for free after Trakr was judged the most 'cloneworthy' dog in the world.

Wouldn't you love to have one of those beautiful pups?

    Well, sure. But if I had to choose, I'd rather have a clone of, say, Ewan McGregor.

    I would LOVE to be able to clone my current pug, Winston.

    But I wonder if he would have the same personality if I raised him the same way and trained him?

    He is a beautiful dog and surely the right choice. I wouldn't mind an Ewan McGregor either!

    BeckEye: To each her own. McGregor is too metrosexual for my tastes. I'd rather clone a manly man.

    Steve Harkonnen: I don't think there are any assurances about personality with clones, but if the original's genetic make-up is good, you've got a good shot at another great dog.

    Ananda Girl: He was a beatiful dog. The five dogs in the picture are all Trakr's clones. They can conceivably make a nearly infinite number of them.

    Hey, I know. You & BeckEye can double date with the double Ewans ;-)

    WomanHonorThyself: I miss our pup too, but unless I won a contest like this man did, I wouldn't be able to afford the thousands of dollars that it costs to clone a pet. Heck, even if I had money to burn, I wouldn't spend it on this.

    The more I think about cloning my dog, I also believe that there would be too much expectations from me in wanting my old Winston the pug back.

    Besides, it would be kinda creepy. He'd have the exact same little white spot on his chest, grey haired chin and such...and I would be expecting it all back.

    Steve Harkonnen: Therein lies the rub. The clone would look like your Winston, but it might act totally differently. Is that worth $50,0000?. I think not.

    mk: I'm not sure, but I think that the guy next to him is one of the doctors involved in the cloning process... not that it would matter ;-)
