Beware Of The Blob!

Doctor's Office Hit By Meteorite

OK, this is how it all began in The BLOB.

Beware of the BLOB! It creeps, and leaps, and glides and slides across the floor and out the door.

Whatever you do, don't touch it!

  2. I remember seeing that movie on TV. The special affects were just awful compared to today.

  3. I loved that movie. I also won a $50 bet because I knew the teenager was a very young and innocent Steve McQueen.

  4. BG: You have been duly warned. The BLOG is not for the squeamish.

Debbie: The effects were atrocious, but it didn't stop me from paraphrasing the song and making it the headline of my blog.

  5. Jan: McQueen may have played a teenager, but he was already 28 when this movie was filmed. No so young and innocent, eh?

  7. Whoa! That would be something else, to have a meteorite come through the roof.

I wonder if their insurance will cover that, or would it be an act of God? ;)

That blob movie (not the remake) used to creep me out when I was a little kid.

  8. Chuck: The effects were a bit cheesy, but I thought it was a good movie too.

Brooke: Good question. I don't think I've got meteorite insurance. I'm not covered for robot attacks either ;-)

The Blob didn't creep me out as much as vampires did. I was so scared of vampires attacking me in the night, that all through my childhood, I couldn't go to sleep if my neck wasn't covered by a pillow. True story.

  9. Is The Blob a metaphor for something?

  10. crazy4coens: There have been theories tossed around over the years... one being the BLOB was a metaphor for communism in the
50's, but I think for our time, it's a metaphor for the socialism of our rampantly enlarging government, a creeping mass that consumes our tax dollars and grows bigger and bigger and whose appetite for taxes never wanes. BO is the meteorite that unleashes this horror on our world.

  11. OK, a meteorite lands in your office. Do you hand the whole thing over to the museum? or do you keep some?

  12. birdwoman: As a life-long science fiction fan, my first instinct is to run away screaming because there is an alien lifeform in it that wants to kill all life on Earth. I would reconsider that position once I found out that it was relatively safe for me to keep a piece as the most awesome collectible evah!
