Junky Food

This was the menu served at the White House for the Super Bowl guests:

Bratwurst, Kielbasa, Cheeseburgers, Deep Dish Pizza, Buffalo Wings, German Potato Salad, Twice Baked Potatoes, Snyders Potato Chips and Pretzels, Chips and Dips, Salad, Ice Cream. Beverages including the following beers: Hinterland Pale Ale & Amber Ale (Wisconsin), Yuengling Lager and Light (Pennsylvania), White House Honey Ale.

This study came out today:

Hmmmm, that's one explanation.

  2. I'm sure their children were shown the salad bar like she wants to put into all the school cafeterias.

  5. The Obamas don't have to follow "food rules" because the Obamas are part of the oligarchy.

Some animals are more equal than others. See Orwell's Animal Farm.

  6. They served Yuengling, so I can't say anything negative.

I see what you're going for here, but it's kind of a non-issue isn't it? I think we can all agree that eating garbage food is OK as long as we don't do it every day.

Also, I don't think putting salad bars in schools is a bad idea. My high school had one. Not one of the giant fancy jobbies like you see in restaurants, but it was a salad bar nonetheless. However, I never got salad again after hearing a rumor that kids were hocking loogies into the dressing. So, if Operation Salad Bar gets the green light, I hope one of the requirements will be to include salad dressing PACKETS. Do it for the children, Michelle.

  7. Nice menu...the WH motto must read "Do as I say, not as I do."

  8. WomanHonorThyself: Lettuce, yes, but not arugula. That's just for the elites.

Jan: Your sarcasm is only superceded by their hypocrisy.

Chuck: You eat what we tell you to eat and YOU WILL LIKE IT!

  9. Patrick Carroll: Glad you liked it!

Always On Watch: Well said. I read Animal Farm many moons ago and I'm
at the stage when I get satisfaction from my children reading it and understanding the ramifications of Orwell's wonderfully perceptive allegory.

Clearly, we, the peons, are not as equal as they, the elites, affirmative action aided or not.

  10. BeckEye: First, let me say that I have absolutely no qualms over the White House's choice of beers. They can invite me to a beer summit anytime they want.

My problem isn't against eating less junk food. I don't have a problem with getting kids to eat more salads -- from experience, it's not going to be easy and I predict much salad will be wasted in the process-- but whatever.

My problem is a first lady who chooses to nag and possibly legislate how we peons must eat while she is sucking up the richest, most succulent, most costly food evah in the way the one of the five Chinese brothers could suck up the entire sea.

What's wrong with practicing what you preach?

  11. T.T. Douglas: Exactly. That's how they roll at this White House. Shut up and do what we tell you to do!

  12. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a link, Cube.

Only thing is, a lot of what we're told is "healthy" today isn't-- eg, lettuce (virtually no nutritional value) and pasta (carbs/grains that make you fat), but that's a different story...

  13. Thanks for visit.

Why is it folk who are meant to set a good example don't?

  14. Not a bad menu...if you don't eat like that all the time.
