Me too! And The Princess Bride is one of my ultimate all time favorite movies. I loved his story about his fake eye! Ha! I think he would have been a great person to know. He'll be missed.
LL: Columbo was a male Mrs. Marple. He never yelled, he never drew his gun and there were no car chases, but he always caught the killer. I loved it.
Silly rabbit: I liked the Princess Bride too. Is the fake eye story you're referencing the one where he pulled it out during a ball game and told the umpire that he needed it more than he did?
Jan: I agree. Even now if I run across an episode of Columbo, I'll watch it. If I had any input into a network, I'd run a Columbo marathon right about now.
He was iconic - and there were a lot of people who came along after him who tried to capture what he mastered without success.

I watched many reruns even though I knew whodunit. A brilliant show.
ReplyDeleteCube - Those were the good ole days when television was watchable.
ReplyDeleteAnd Peter Falk was one of the great tv actors.
Best detective ever named after a large city in South Asia. Bar none!
ReplyDeleteI loved Peter Falk as a kid

ReplyDeletesad, isn't it. He was terrific... the first streaker :-)
ReplyDeleteZ: I'm not sure I follow... the first streaker?
ReplyDeleteHis best performances were probably in Cassavetes' "Woman Under the Influence" and Wim Wenders' "Wings of Desire".
ReplyDeleteHe was just a great no nonsense actor.
Another class act has left us...RIP Peter Falk.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P Mr. Falk.
