It's nothing new. I don't like paying more for less. These bulbs aren't even close to being as good as the old ones and they cost 6 times more. What????
I'm all for new ideas and doing things that are good for the environment but I really don't see how these bulbs are. So, you break one and you have to worry about cleaning up mercury? I don't care if it's just a "trace amount." That's more than enough! And then you have to worry about people disposing of them improperly and ending up in landfills, where they'll be giving off mercury? No thanks. So many people who have tried them say they don't last longer than regular bulbs anyway. Nothing but a money-grabbing scam.
Silly Rabbit: I wouldn't care if they were an actual improvement. I love new technology. These bulbs are clearly a devolution that is being foisted upon us.
Glad I saw this warning before putting any of these in our barn. However they could turn out to be an arsonist's dream and the insurance company's nightmare.
I'm not that worried about them because the way we're going here in Australia, I won't be able to afford to turn a light on, what with our fabulous new Carbon Dioxide tax...

Besides, Daniel Craig's perennially pissed off look really annoys me. I can't believe they picked him to play Mikael Blomkvist in the upcoming English version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Arrggh.

As far as the old bulbs go, we've been buying them the same way we buy every other staple, such as water, canned goods, paper goods, etc.. We keep a goodly supply of everything just in case.
I got rid of the 2 that I tried. They are an accident waiting to happen. They don't even look safe.

Within a few years, we'll be hearing how these bulbs are poisoning us. Hands will wring, and the old bulbs will make a comeback.
