Bias Schmias?

Uproar Over Student Newspaper's Politically Incorrect Trayvon Martin Cartoon

It's only free speech when the liberals say it's free speech.

  1. If it doesn't align with what the progressives believe is politically correct, than it's not.

Freedom of speech has been thrown out the window and now it is only what the Left want and who gives a hoot about anyone else's opinion.

The girl should get her job back. She did nothing wrong.

    I've seen worse cartoons.

  2. I find their response to fire the cartoonist interesting when the editorial staff approved it's going to press. Shouldn't they have fired the editor who allowed it? Cartoons are submitted and either accepted or rejected.

Beside that, the point of the cartoon isn't to cast racial slurs, its to point out that the media is racist and uses its own version of racial profiling.

  3. Rarely does a victim of violent crime get the limelight. Usually all the hype is about the perpetrator and the victim is lost in the eyes of those who fight on behalf of the poor-abused-in-childhood criminal. Too bad that the sadness of the death of Trayvon Martin is only being used by the media as a ploy to stir up hatred and not an opportunity to for all the families who have lost loved ones to violent acts to say all victims have a story.

  4. Leticia: I think she should be offered back her job, but, after making a big stink about being fired, she should turn it down on principle.

How can she trust those turncoat editors again?

  5. Silly Rabbit: I agree. The editorial staff should never have fired her and should have stood up for their editorial decision to print the cartoon. A little backbone on their part would've been good to see.

  6. Cube - I believe political cartoons - like the one you posted here - are a very important part of our American free speech - and I simple LOVE them.

I say let them alone. And if you don't like them - then just turn your head.

They deliver a very important message - and I don't want to kill that messenger.

  7. Wow, a college administration that is biased against conservatives. Who would have thought?

It just never ends does it Cube?

  8. Granny Annie: Good point. Had calmer heads prevailed, the police and the legal system could've done their jobs quietly and allowed a modicum of justice to be meted out in this case.

So many misconceptions and outright lies have been spread that I don't know if that will be possible now.

  9. Sue Hanes: Very good point. I agree totally.

Chuck: Exactly. I'm surprised they allowed the cartoon in the first place. Now that was a shock.

  10. Cube, you must watch this whole thing. It is pretty much what I was trying to say and it is much more acceptable from a person of color. He hits the nail on the head.
