Huntsman

Last night I came across an Heteropoda venatoria also known as a huntsman spider or a giant crab spider and my husband was asleep so I didn't have the heart to call upon him for one of his husbandly duties.

This spider was huge and it's eyes glinted at me. I was scared, but I managed to kill it with my daughter's shoe.

I'll never forget those shiny eyes...

  3. Cube - You are the brave one.
Spiders are one of my most hated things in life. I wish I could call on you to take care of the ones I come across. Fortunately - the really big ones are few and far between.

I know some people think they are good to have around - but not me.

  5. Our brave granddaughter is staying with us this week. She has been running through the briars and brambles of our rustic homes since her birth. Now she does not want to venture outside because she is afraid of spiders. From tomboy to frilly girl at eleven.

I can stand spiders. Centipedes are even worse!

  8. Sue Hanes: I was only brave because my husband was asleep and I had to deal with the spider myself.

It's horrible enough to have a giant spider in your house. Can you imagine how much worse it would be to know there's one prowling around right next to you? I had to summon the courage that night, but Mr. Cube is my go-to-man when it comes to bugs. I'm a big chicken when it comes to big bugs.

  9. Cube - Would you please write a new post so that when I check your blog I do not have to look at that awful spider?

    Thanks.

  11. I am not sure which frightens me more... having to kill it or a spider that escapes that I imagine plots how to get revenge.

    And may I say AAAAAAAAGGGGG!
