Grand Cat Blog Friday

For this Cat Blog Friday...

... my daughter's cat, Baby, who hides when she hears the sound of packing because she hates going into her cat box. This past Monday she hid in the bed's box spring and my husband ended up lifting the entire bed assembly so our daughter could grab her.

My husband said Baby was very surprised when her cat cave was upended. "Mess with Grandpa and you get an earthquake."

It's always hectic around here, but I'm sure it's that way in many of your homes, too, especially around tax time.

Happy Friday, everybody!

  1. Cats can hide very well. It takes a lot of work to find them at times. I see your husband is a force to be reckoned with.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday. ☺

  2. I'm always amazed at the hearing of our cat. Then there is the selective hearing which is a whole nuther thing

  4. Sandee: Yes, even with those stubby little legs that are illustrative of her Munchkin breed, she can run pretty fast and, in the blink of an eye, she's gone into hiding and goodness knows where.

My daughter had to leave to pick up a Share-A-Ride fellow student and she was running out of time. My husband finally had enough of the 'fraidy cat' and he took matters into his own hands. It's a queen sized bed, but he handled it nicely much to Baby's surprise. It's always crazy at our house.

  5. Jan: It could be just their hearing which is amazing, but the other cats don't intuitively go crazy and hide when there are packing noises. They don't react to it at all. I think it has to do with their life experiences. Baby is shuttled back and forth from Gainesville to Tampa often and she is impacted by it and doesn't like it.

  6. Stevebethere: She is a cutie. She is a sweetie, too, when she's not running for her 'life'.

  10. Beautiful cat! My Han Solo is the same color. Moving is very stressful on cats but they do seem to adjust eventually.

  12. Granny Annie: You always have the best names. Catniss comes to mind. How's she doing?

Yes, we're hoping Baby gets used to moving. We don't know her history since she was a rescue cat, but we're hoping whatever happened to her will be undone by a loving family.

  13. Grannie Annie. Good point about moving. fwiw, based on experience and word of mouth, if you move a cat to a new house do not let them outside for at least a few weeks. So many cats have disappeared after moving. Are they trying to get back 'home'? Don't know, but it's a truism.

  14. Kid: Absolutely. We don't let Baby go outside at all. We are hyper-vigilant about that and we all take pains to keep her and the other two grand kittens inside.
