Jan: No. You've just never had the right teacher. Imagine any sized circle and take the circumference of that circle. Divide that number by the circle's diameter and voila... you will always get 3.1415926... ad infinitum. It's a constant and one of the coolest I know.
Pi R2 in math, but in cooking, pie are round and cornbread are square.
