Rebel Gull

I think this sign is supposed to warn humans not to feed the seagulls, but this rebel is having no part of the ban.

You couldn't plan a pic like this.

I just thought of this story. Years ago, when our girls were little, they loved to feed the seagulls at the beach. One day there was one seagull, front and center, that had only one leg. Of course, we felt sorry for it and threw most of the food morsels its way. It must've gotten full, because we saw it light on the sand and walk around with TWO legs. Turns out this is a seagull trick to curry extra food.

Hoomans, you've been warned.

  3. Seagulls are relentless and very good at being tricky.

  4. Messymimi: Yes, and as much as some people revile them, there is no other bird call more evocative of the beach for me. They remind me of the equally reviled pigeons. I grew up in NYC and back then the closest I got to animals in the wild was pigeons on the fire escape. Pigeons evoke certain childhood memories for me.
