Happy Pi Day

Pi Day is celebrated by math geeks (and others looking for any reason to celebrate) on March 14th.

What Makes Pi So Special?

If you're like me, you'll want to see the mathematical proof, so here it is on my coffee mug... I hope it helps ;)

  1. it's ironic that Stephen Hawking died on the day before Pi.

  2. LL: Yes, and on the day before Einstein's birthday.

  3. Sorry for being a skeptical, but I'm gonna have to check your work. Of course, this may take awhile, as my rebuilt 1984 Commodore PC has only cleared the second decimal and is started to smoke...

  4. DaBlade: Lol. Take your time, Mr. Commodore. My cut and paste skills are sine qua non.

  5. Who else would know this is PI day?! The school I'm associated with celebrates by its parents bringing pies for all the kids at lunch period.....really fun!

  6. Bye, bye, Miss American Pi.

  7. Z: Well, then you should visit more often ;) Pi beats cake all day long.

  8. LL: ??? Please educate me. I don't get the reference.

  9. Did someone say pie? Oh, never mind. Last year, the shelter had pie on pi day, and it was decorated with the symbol.

  10. Messymimi: I know I posted about it, but I hate the idea of pi only one day of the year. I think pi and pie should be celebrated all year long.

  12. This is why I have always avoided math. I;m lost.

  13. I love Pi, it is proof of the infinity of our existence in this infinitely mutli-dimensional, infinite number of universes, parallel, perpendicular, and obtuse that we traverse riding on a mostly dirty and dangerous tiny rock.

When I first got to the Phoenix area, there was a pizza place called My Pi - Best pizza I have ever had in my entire life, at least in this timeline.

  14. Cube, Agree on the celebration. I think it should be celebrated 247 months a year with a big parade on March 37th.

  15. Mary (cactus catz): Yes, humor is a good thing.

  16. Jan: You just never had the right teacher.

  17. :-) I love circles too. I think everything God created is circular as opposed to linear. Everything.

  18. KId; Circles AND lines are all good. Math is the one thing that we can all agree on. Two plus two will always equal four

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's hard for me to reject linear also, but given enough time, I think even stubborn linear becomes circular. The hardest one of all to accept as circular is time itself, but I'm going to put it out there anyway. Given enough time, time can be circular.

I've heard mathematicians go insane sometimes trying to reconcile 1+1 = 2. I don't have that problem anyway :)

American Pie, by Don McLean - came out circa 1972. You may be too young to recall the song and album.

  23. Kid: Whatever floats your boat.

  24. LL, Did you see where a 74 year old Don McLean is dating a 24 year old girl?

  25. Further proof that those in the community who try to project are most likely the ones with a nasty secret to hide.

This is why I don't watch any of the "Brony famous" people, mainly because I can make my own mind up if I like a thing or not and don't need someone to flat out tell like their opinion is gospel or by joining some kind of dumb hive mind such as a forum or the Equestria Daily comments section.
