Jan: People who work with bats and bat rescues have stories about how social and intelligent bats are even though they don't make good pets. Bats are still mammals and need what all mammals crave, other mammals. These surrogate mother plushy toys and also being swathed like a baby, lessen the terror a bat feels when injured or in captivity. Most people know they eat tons of bugs, but they're also key pollinators which is hugely important to crops. All good stuff from our friends, the flying "foxes".
