I lived a couple years in Italy. Then Greece and Turkey and Crete. Calamari sandwiches, stew, fried rings. But we did marinara. Never thought of cocktail sauce. Til now.
Ed Bonderenka: I don't eat calamari, but with shrimp I use cocktail sauce. Marina is what I use with pasta. Then again, I'm not going to tell Italians how to eat Italian food.
I just rewatched the classic Sci-Fi movie The Beast. It featured a near 100 foot giant Squid. They come in giant size, but not that giant. The beast went on a rip and tear off the coast of Washington State, sinking boats, eating people and small whales and generally disrupting the economy of a small coastal town. It was an OK film but like all Sci-Fi films, you have to accept that it is fiction.
Leonard Jones: I'm a big sci-fi movie fan myself and I have seen "The Beast." Yes, we must always suspend disbelief when it comes to giant monster movies, but they're still so much fun to watch. Thanks for visiting.
Amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'm having a great weekend too. ♥
Giant squid lives matter
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of calamari!
ReplyDeleteWe're gonna need a bigger boat!
And lots of marinara sauce.
And they battle with large whales.
ReplyDeleteEd, not cocktail sauce?
Sandee: I'm glad they're out there and not in my pool.
ReplyDeleteLL: ðĪĢ
ReplyDeleteEd Bonderenka: I'm with Kid on this, you would put marina sauce on squid... what kind of Italian are you?
ReplyDeleteFascinating critters, i am so glad they are real.

Not having a Sperm Whale next to it I can't tell how big it is. They have found many dead ones, but this the first live sighting.

ReplyDeleteWoodsterman (Odie): Great point. It would've been nice to see a size marker next to this big guy.
