Chancellor Merkel

Angela Merkel, makes her first visit to the White House as Germany's new Chancellor.

She has criticized the U.S. detention of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. And late last year, Germany rebuffed an appeal by Attorney General Alberto Gonzales not to release a terrorist accused of killing a Navy diver in an airplane hijacking in 1985.

Some advice for Chancellor Merkel: Get tough on terror if you want to be taken seriously.

Also it would help if you stopped making funny faces...

And stop wearing large clown-like rubber noses...

  1. I know it's illogical not to evaluate what someone says before considering the source, but I'm so tired of countries with extreme economic/human rights/religious/political problems telling the most successful nations what to do. Perhaps they should acknowledge what their own advice has gotten them...nothing but trouble.

  2. I agree. Western Europe is a basketcase. It would behoove them to follow our lead for a change.

  3. OK, I love that second picture! If that were me I'd frame it, or use it for my blog or something. Of course, I'm not Chancellor of anything...

  4. Well, Jen, I'm going to keep my eyes open for embarassing photos of you just in case you do become Chancellor of something.

    QOOSA!

  5. No comment on the torture issue.

The pictures were funny, but your comments about them were even funnier, Cube!

  6. The first pic looks like she has no teeth.
I don't know anything about her, so I can't comment with any degree of intelligence. I don't think I could comment intelligently even if I knew a lot about her.

  7. j.d.: that was my first thought too...like she had left her teeth in the Polident atop the night table. It was only out of respect that I used the phrase 'funny face'. So much for intelligent commentary ;-)

  8. I think she was just trying to outdo our funny-faced President.

  9. I think she'll be in trouble for showing the secret politician dress code. When they're behind closed doors, those clowns bring out all the paraphernalia. Big, floppy shoes. Orange hair. etc, etc.

  10. Shame on Angela for revealing the workings of the political inner sanctum... which should not be confused with the inner workings of Rick Santorum ;-)
