Did you know that the fear of the giant mole rat is called zemmiphobia?
Honestly, I hadn't given much thought to these supremely ugly critters, but comon, no way do I fear them.
There's no way that thing can crawl into my ears.
Wait, how small is the lesser mole rat?
Well, I'm sure their mothers think they're adorable.
ReplyDeleteYes, tlm, that's true of all mothers. Why, I'll bet even Bush's mom thinks he's adorable... funny face and all :-P
ReplyDeletenot true. My second baby was hit by the ugly tree, big time. He's improved... but still...
ReplyDeleteand naked mole rats are freaky looking, too.

There is a NAME for fear of giant mole rats?
ReplyDeleteIs there a name for fear that psychology is turning into a joke?
It's those long, teeth that look freaky, I'm sure they could do some real damage to your finger.
ReplyDeletedarrell: I think it's called psycobabblephobia.
ReplyDeleteNaked mole rats are perhaps the ugliest things in the universe. To me, the naked mole rat is proof positive intelligent design is a farce.
ReplyDeleteI'm forever amazed at the number of phobias there are, and even more amazed that there are names for a squillion different phobias.
ReplyDeleteThere are words for things that we just never think about - did you know that that the little plastic bits on the end of shoe laces actually have a name? They're NOT called the little plastic bits on the end of shoe laces. Strange, but true.
Language is a wonderful thing.
caz: those little plastic bits are called tags, I think. I hope there aren't people with a phobia about tags!
ReplyDeleteCube - no, seriously, they have their own name. It really is amazing how many things have a name, and how extensive is the English language. I guess our little heads would explode if we know all the words (well, that's my excuse).
ReplyDeleteThe little plastic bits are aglets. Now you have a new party trick to impress your friends!
