Wedgie?

The caption for this photo reads: "French goalkeeper Fabien Barthez gestures during the FIFA 2006 World Cup final football match between France and Italy at the Olympic stadium in Berlin."

OK, so what is this gesture supposed to mean?

  1. My goodness, I don't know. Maybe it's a sign of respect, like the tipping of the cap? He's saying, "I lift my shorts legs to you." Yes, I'm sure that's it.

  2. Maybe it's intended to make the opponents laugh so hard they miss the ball.

  3. i can't think of anything clever. But it does look pretty pathetic, and sissy, not the least bit manly an insult as let's say an Italian fist up the butt gesture. The French just don't know how to be manly I guess.....sorry to any French out there.....
