Boldly Go!

From Yahoo.com comes word that renowned physicist, Stephen Hawking, now says humans must colonise planets in other solar systems using "Star Trek"-style propulsion or face extinction.

"Sooner or later disasters such as an asteroid collision or a nuclear war could wipe us all out." Hawkin concludes.

Pretty bleak especially when you consider how far NASA is from warp drive propulsion.

  8. I wouldn't call this "chopped liver". At lunch today one of my friends asked, "Did you guys hear what Stephen Hawking said?", and I was able to reply because I had in fact read this post this morning.

I just hope that unlike Jor-El, Hawking is wrong...

  11. EB, Nanc, you guys, my hand was getting tired and I didn't think Cube wanted the entire comments thread taken up with the names of everyone I know! You are part of the ad infinitum, the front names change randomly!

  12. Hey, but I hear that even though they're a ways off from warp drive, NASA is working with anti-matter.

    Heh.

Hawkins has one thing right, though: We should be getting our butts into space!

  14. elmer's bro: what is this list of which you speak?

mcf: thank you. Glad I was able to keep you informed. I only called it chopped liver because folks were slow to comment about it. I, myself, would never consider it pat ;-)

tmw: now I must know what is this list of which you speak.

brooke: absolutely. The money to get us up in space is well worth it.

  15. Cube- It's my souper-sekret fried friends list!
Actually it's our blogger's community prayer chain. Nanc's not on it, but we also have a community of bloggers who are also friends. It circles around Beaker, of the Beak Speaks!
