Oh My GAWWD!!! What a nasty cat... I wonderif anyone in the shelter looked at 'Berger' and said'Yup,that's the pet of MY dreams!'
And I can not imagine how the cat arrived there... as someone had to have caught Berger and carried him there... Would have liked to see the pic of them, as it had to be a team...
God love him..that cat is as frieghtened as they come. Poor guy..I hope someone had heart enough to try and work through it with him. I probably would have..not sure how my other 7 would like that though..they kinda freaked at the sounds coming from him off the pc..is it live or Memorex Ma?
Usually with good treatment an animal calms down and learns, our dog is an example. He was abused as a puppy, removed by animal services, we got him and he is a snuggle-bunny, protective and playful. I'd like to get my mitts on the person or person's who did this...

Jeez Louise. I just replied to a commenter on my blog about being a cat person and fearing big dogs. After watching that video, though, I might change my mind.
Yikes!! I think I dated his sister once. Sends shivers down my spine just thinking about her... Let's just say she scared me and we'll leave it at that!
mary: I don't know what happened to this poor cat, but I'm betting it wasn't adoption.
tmw: some do, some don't. Dogs are also more willing to please humans than cats.
Our #3 cat was a feral kitten, but has been an indoor cat for over a year now. She got outside this weekend & disappeared. We found her hiding under the shed, but she wouldn't come to us even though she comes to us inside the house. Go figure.
I once had a cat who was a feral kitty. He was a sweetie in the house, but he got out a window once and that was the last we ever saw of him. Once an outdoor cat, always, I suppose.
The cat we have now we adopted when he was about six months or so from Petsmart.
The other cats were very aloof, and he just looked so sweet and laid back that I had to see him. He was SO loveable, even in the shelter environment, and even let our daughter flip him upside down and rub his belly!
We took him right home, and he's probably more loving than even the dogs are!
Once he slipped out the back door while we were carrying groceries, and went under the neighbor's bushes. He wouldn't come out; I had to drag him. It's a fear/freeze reaction, I suppose. It was raining and cold that day, and he hasn't tried to get out ever again! LOL!
The cat in the video; I fear he may be headed for euthanization. He may be too far gone, poor boy. Whoever caused that should be beaten. All but one of our animals are rescued, and there's nothing sadder than trying to coax a terrified animal who's obviously been abused.
Our old doggie is a sheltie mix who used to cower at even the slightest raised voice. Hubby and I had to whisper in her presence for the first two weeks we had her, or she would hide under our dinner table for hours on end.
She did grow out of it, but is still what I would call very submissive.

I don't know if you remember, but we adopted 2 feral kittens who were sisters. It took much patience to coax them out of their shells, but we did. Then 2 months later, a door got left open & one ran away. Just like that.
Her sister, Pepper, who's been with us over 14 months, pulled a similar stunt over the weekend, but we found her the next day.
It's like a switch is pulled in their little cat brains & they revert to being feral.
Cat seems perfectly normal to me. Obviously it was in close proximity to something that sets me off like that all the time, well, inside anyway. A politician.
I think Stephen Colbert needs to change his list. The top threat to civilization is not bears ... but CATS!
