Super Collection

Valuable Comic Book Collection Being Auctioned Today

The collection built by Denver media executive Rich Kylberg has been valued at well over $500,000 and is considered the best complete collection of the world’s top comics.

It includes the first appearance of Superman in 1938, and the first appearance of Batman from 1939, along with first appearances by Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four, Captain America, Green Lantern, and the Flash. Also included are most of the key Silver Age comics as well, most notably the 1960s debuts of Spider-Man and the Hulk, and other gems like a Near Mint Plus copy of Richie Rich #1.

Too pricey for me, but it's one collection I'd love to peruse.

  4. i was an "archie" addict - if those came up for sale, i'd be interested - wish i'd've saved all of mine from about 1965 onward...i'd spend part of my $.25 lunch money on them each and every week.

  5. I loved the Superman comics.
Remember when I was 9 years old and the teacher caught me reading one under the desk.He confiscated it and promptly threw it in the bin.
    I was heartbroken.

The teacher was a bit of a softie though, and at the end of the day he let me retrieve the comic from the bin.I was rapt!
