Largest Prime

Largest Known Prime Number Found

The Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search, a cooperative computing project, helps find a prime that has nearly 13 million digits.

I can't do it justice with the fonts available, but it is the number 2 to the power of 43,112,609, minus 1.

Cool beans.

Simply speaking 2 to the nth power minus 1.

Beautiful.

Of course, it won't be long before someone finds a bigger one so enjoy it while you can.

  1. Thanks Cube, I'm actually nerdy enough to think this is cool. I ove these types of things, I'm a Science channel nut. As far as the number, wwe as humans don't have the capacity to fathom a number like this.

  2. Jeez I thought my ex-girlfriends "number" was big. 'Wwe' at The Long Downward Spiral are simply amazed. You dont get this kind of education on the Basket Weaving channel.
