30 Years Later, Survivors Remember Jonestown Massacre

It's hard to believe that this was 30 years ago!

Where does the time go?

  1. I thought the same thing. It's still incredible that this happened.

  2. There's a special significance to the KoolAid anniversary nowadays. (Actually, it was FlavorAid, but somehow the KoolAid brand stuck.)

  3. Since then there have been so many other "KoolAid drinkers" that it doesn't seem like the original was that long ago.

  5. I still wonder about that. Then again I still wonder about what happened in Waco.

  6. Waco was the lesson that resisting arrest can create a dangerous situation, and the blame ultimately lies with those who resist arrest.

  9. jedi master daryl: About 900 followers of Jim Jones either drank the Flavoraid-laced-with-poison willingly or were forced drink. A Congressman, Leo Ryan, and a SF reporter went on a fact-finding mission to Guyana & were shot for their trouble. The Congressman died. The reporter wrote a book about his experiences.

  10. At the risk of dating myself....I well remember when this story broke. The details came in bits and pieces, each one worse and more horrific than the previous one.

The danger of cults cannot be overestimated!
