Michael Crichton 1942-2008



'Jurassic Park' Author Michael Crichton Dies At 66

My favorite Crichton novel will always be "The Andromeda Strain", and, although I did enjoy many other novels of his, I am saddened to hear that there will be no future ones.

We have not only lost a wonderful novelist, but we have also lost an opponent in the craptastic man-made global warming lib-fest. He was a trained scientist who articulated his very un-politically-correct position and I will miss that very much.

RIP, Mr. Crichton.

    You ought to read "Fallen Angels" by Larry Niven etc. You can even get it for free from the publisher here. It has an amusing take on global warming. I strongly recommend it.

    I've read a bunch of Chrichton books lately. I am sad to hear of his passing.

    what a very bright man he was...handsome and tall, too...I walked past him at our local Barnes and Noble a few years ago.
    Too young to go, but he sure did leave a lot behind.

    I was sorry to hear that he had died. I have read most of his books and enjoyed them all. I never got too much into ER though. Not realistic and it reminded me too much of work...

    dmarks: You are truly a welcome font of archival information. I've read many Niven books, but the last one I'd read was N-Space. I hadn't even heard of the globalwarming one. I will look into it. Thanks again.

    Z: I think you lead a charmed life. You have exploits and adventures the rest of us only read about.

    I never met Mr. Crichton, but I did enjoy his writing very much. He will be missed.

    dr. john: I never got into ER
    either, but I did enjoy his books. In my opinion, the movies were good, but they never lived up to the wonderful scientific detail of his books. I very much enjoyed the science he interspersed into his writing. I will miss his work very much.

    I liked timeline - the book not the movie - as well as the biggies (andromeda and jurassic)

    I am glad Wednesday 11/5/08 is behind us as Dr. Crichton's death was an even bigger downer than the election results. It came as a sad and unwelcome surprise.

    Rest in peace good sir. Your work is timeless.

    I'm very sad about this. I loved "State of Fear" the best, with "Next" my 2nd favorite. I didn't read "Andromeda Strain", but saw the movie - also a good movie. We will miss him greatly.

    It's very sad to lose such a fantastic writer.

    It however has been fun to watch liberals today discussing what a fantastic writer and intellectual this man is, how his books were so filled with solid scientific data and how well researched it all was.. and then you remind them of "State of Fear" and they choke on their own words.
