The Barbershop

U.S. Could Take Stakes In Big 3

In referencing the proposed bailout of the big three auto companies, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was quoted as saying:

"We call this the barbershop. Everybody's getting a haircut here, in terms of the conditions of the bill," she said, noting the likely impact on labor, bondholders, shareholders, car dealers, suppliers and executives. "The management itself has to take a big haircut on all of this."

Wouldn't you just love to see the House and the Congress members get haircuts too.

  1. Jut what we need the government owning companies. Say, why don't these wonderful people we elected cut their pay? That would be a novel concept.

  2. That's what we mean by haircuts.

BTW this new do makes Pelosi look even more like the leader of the Heaven's Gate cult:

  3. I would donate the razors.

A lot of hair plugs would be wasted though.

  5. @Chuck: " Nationalization by any other name..."

    Or stalinization.

@Jill: Yes. We need businesses to be controlled by government. Then they can as cost-effective as the Pentagon is, as speedy in their service as the U.S. Post Office is, and as open in how they operate as the CIA is.

@Cube: Now, didn't this one really need a Sweeney Todd illustration?

"The Demon Barber of Capitol Hill".
