I read at Z's blog that David Carradine had passed away.
"Kung Fu" and 'Kill Bill' Star David Carradine Found Dead In Thai Capital, Suicide Suspected
Further research has revealed that there is speculation that his death was accidental and not a suicide.
In any event, I am sad that he is no longer with us.
I'll always remember him as Kwai Chang Caine.

I just read this to my dad. He's on the couch reading a magazine, and I'm on the love seat visiting blog buddies.

Lee: He was Kwai Chang for me for a very long time and then I saw "Kill Bill" and he became Bill for me. He was believable in two diametrically opposed roles, the mark of a true actor.

I SURE did like his Dad, too...actually am more a fan of his old films than David's TV work.
The whole Carradine family have been a big part of my life via TV and film. My heart goes out to his family.
ReplyDeleteAs for accident or suicide, I'm not sure which is worse. It's just a shame.
Z: I grew up watching John Carradine movies long before I even heard of David, but I became a fan of his when Kung Fu came out. I thought that show was the coolest thing.
ReplyDeleteAnanda girl: The Carradine family has denied that this was a suicide. According to police reports, it's looking like AE asphyxiation. In any event, it is sad.
I'm quite saddened by this. I remember Kung Fu as a child - I loved it. And he was excellent in Kill Bill as well.

My dad used to love watching his show when I was a kid. I didn't like it back then, but I started liking the reruns more and more as I got older.
ReplyDeleteApparently suicide figured into his thinking many times over his lifetime. He wrestled with it for years.
ReplyDeleteWhat problems or issues tortured him are unknown but it is fair to say that perhaps the words of Lovey Howell may not have been true: "Anyone who says money can't buy happiness, doesn't know where to shop"
Happiness is worth more than money and is far harder to obtain.
