Ugly Dog?

Pabst, A Boxer-mix Wins
Blue Ribbon In Ugly Dog Contest

OK, Pabst does have a prominent under-bite, but I think that hardly qualifies him to earn the title of Ugliest Dog.

Pabst does have a striking appearance, but ugly? Not a chance.

THIS is an ugly dog.

I think Pabst won the wrong contest.

  1. I think all concerned wanted a more marketable ugly dog. Those Chinese Cresteds are pathetic and hard to look at.

  2. Jan: good point. I think this dog is ugly but cute.

  3. Wow. I am sure there will never be another Sam... yikes! Not even Zito Von Frito is that ugly.

You're right cube, Sam has Pabst out ugged.

    Pabst is way better looking.

  4. Ananda Girl: Jan explained that the rules have been changed to allow only dogs who are healthy AND ugly. This makes much more sense because who wants to root for a sick AND ugly dog.

I wouldn't think twice over bringing a dog like Pabst home if I were to run into him at the shelter. To me, he's one of a kind.

  5. Beckeye: I went to your link expecting a dog and that's what I got ;-)

  6. I think tough is a better word. Not a guy you want to meet in a dark alley.

  7. Pabst might not win a beauty contest, but he's not all that ugly.

  8. Chuck: Normally I'd agree with you, but I know from the article that Pabst is a sweetie despite his overly toothy grin. Of course, the bad guys don't know that ;-)

AlwaysOnWatch: That's what I think too. He's actually kind of cute in his own unique way.

Back in our college days, we ran across a stray pregnant cat that had that kind of underbite and we thought it was very endearing. Unfortunately, she didn't survive the pregnancy because she was too young.

    People spay/neuter your pets!

  9. Shouldn't poodles ALWAYS win this award?

  10. Papa Frank: Yikes! You've got some explaining to Jan.

  11. With all due respect to Jan, the poodle thing is funny. I would have to add Shitzu, my parents have one and I keep telling them I'll use it for bait.

  12. I wonder how Pabst eats - I guess he can chew with his molars - but how does he bite off a piece of anything?

  13. Well, he's ugly. But not blue ribbon ugly

  14. Pabst is so-ugly-he's-cute.

I'm glad one of those hideous CC's didn't win again! LOL!

  15. Looks like one of those gate-guards at Jabba's Palace.

  16. Chuck: I think Shitzus are cute little dogs, but I would never own one unless I were forced to, but I would draw the line at using them for bait... OK, maybe if I was out of live shrimp ;-)

crazy4coens: Good question. I don't know, but he looks pretty beefy to me.

CrazyBunnyLady: Honestly, I think he's funny looking, but not ugly. I would pick him as a pet if I were to run into him in a shelter.
He's unique and I like unique.

  17. Brooke: Oh yeah. Those poor CC dogs were nasty looking. I'm glad they changed the contest criteria.

dmarks: Leave it to you to think of the Gamorrean guards. Good one! You nailed it.

  18. Those Gamorrean guards never seem to get dates. The special name that sounds like a famous venereal disease does it every time.

  19. dmarks: That and the fact that Gamorreans have faces that only a Gamorrean mother would love.

  21. Pabst is not a good looking dog but still cute. He's one of the few.
