Mustang: Stumbling in the dark? No way, I turn on lights. Big palmetto bugs are bad enough. I can't imagine the shock of finding a 7 foot gator in my bathroom.
As someone who's absolutely petrified of roaches (you can call them "palmetto" bugs or water bugs or whatever you like, but they're @$$%ing roaches as far as I'm concerned), it would be a toss-up as to whether I'd rather see one of those or the gator!
Chuck: I remember hearing an awful ruckus in the kitchen once and waking my mother. She discovered a roach had been trapped inside a paper bag and was trying to get out. It sounded like an intruder in the house.
Annoying Joe: The state has its share of cows. Northern Florida has lots of horses.

Karen Howes: I can empathize with you on that. Mr. Cube accuses me of being more afraid of the bugs and spiders while we're in a canoe than the big gators that sit on the river banks and stare at us or have crossed underneath our canoe.
OMG! That really creeps me out! I read about a woman that found one down in Florida in her kitchen one morning. It got in because she had a pet door in her door, and the dog could go in and out when it wanted to. It came in the house that way. That is just gross! Who would want one of those in their door in Florida of all places.
The whole neighborhood would have heard me screaming and running the heck out of my house!
I have a true phobia of camel crickets, but I could handle those nasty little buggers over some huge reptile lounging in my loo...OH the terror of it all.

So much for stumbling around in the middle of the night ... things like this could easily turn America into a nation of bed-wetters.

I remember visiting Arkansas as a kid. I swear they had wood roaches big enough that you could hear them walk across the linoleum at night

Makes me grateful that we have harsh winters here in Northern Virginia.
ReplyDeleteMy cousin once had a pet alligator. He escaped and didn't survive.
Now, Northern Virginia isn't perfect. We have those horrid stinkbugs by the hordes. The harsh winters won't affect them at all.
My parents once had a squirrel swimming in the toilet. No idea as to how that varmint got into the house -- much less into the toilet.
OMG! Alright, I think I would have had a meltdown or something. I've always thought of moving to Florida but I don't know about that now.
