Am I the only one who finds this creepy?

  1. Cube - I wrote a comment on this but made a mistake and it appears in the post about the obamamints.

  2. More deeply disturbing are the knees. Since when did mermaids have knees...or are those malformed breasts?

  3. Sue: That's OK.

BTW I looked up "The Awakening and you weren't kidding. Yikes! Wikipedia lists other similarly gargantuan sculptures that come out of the ground. Strange theme, but I guess it takes all kinds to make a world... or, if you have studied chemistry, it's alkynes ;-)

  4. Granny Annie: I hope they're knees! Giant boobs would be over the top.

  5. Well, at least they didn't put a fountain in between her legs.

  6. Too weird. Glad we don't have those types of "artists" or that big of a body of water close enough to be subjected to that ...

  7. Brooke: That's what I'm thinking too.

Beckeye: lol. Way to see the silver lining of THAT cloud.

BTW wouldn't a fountain be more appropriate for a Merman statue...
    remember Spongebob's hero?

  8. Cary: I found it strange as well. We have plenty of water here in Florida, but thank goodness the artists who think this is art aren't all that plentiful.

  9. I couldn't get beyond the knees/breasts, but at least it has only a few more days to gross out everyone.

  10. YIKES! Creepy to the extreme! If she's a mermaid... where are her fins and scales? No accounting for some people's art tastes.

  11. BeckEye, it would be a fountain if she had Mexican food (if you get my drift!) Sorry, I couldn't resist; how disgusting :-)

I don't think she was meant to be a mermaid! Jan, is she not permanent?

I have to say I honeymooned on the Alster lake at the Hotel Atlantic! Neat, huh? It is a fabulous hotel and the lake is beautiful.
But, I kind of like her :-) It's original!

  14. That certainly is creepy, Cube. A pervert must have thought of that statue and where to place it. That's truly sick.
