While i like amphibians, i've never thought about them leaving their mess all over. The tiny frogs we get around here just stay near the creek or in the grass.
Messymimi: When my daughters were growing up, we used to gather frog eggs and raise them from tadpoles to frogs. Once old enough, we'd release them into our yard. It was fun and educational. I'm not sure if any of them grew up to be those huge toads, but we don't have those cute little tree frogs in our yard and something left those eggs in our rain puddles. Maybe they're paying us back ;)
Jan: I welcome any insect eating critters at our house. We get a wedge (or scattering or seige or heronry) of egrets that come around periodically to eat bugs and I try to keep the dogs and cats in the house while they feast.
DaBlade: It is soooo funny that you would bring up Michigan J. Frog. This was a Throwback Thursday post from March 2007 and the day when I caught this toad, I was singing the hello my baby song. I think you're channeling my inner Bugs Bunny cartoon influence.
I think you've gone too far with your insults this time though... you shouldn't insult frogs and toads this way. They don't deserve the derision.
They make good bait for bass and for alligator gar, if you're into fishing.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that. I love fishing, but we usually use live shrimp and catch whitings, mostly, but I did catch a shark once.

Sandee: The toads designate their own pooping area. Even when I'm able to grab one, they never listen to my lectures ;)

Granny Annie: We get them here all the time. The large poop is annoying, but I like that they're eating bugs.
