Underwater Goo-Goo Googly Eyes

This Impossibly Cute Sea Creature Looks Like A Googly-eyed Cartoon Octopus

Meet Rossia pacifica also known as the stubby squid except it's not really a squid, but related to the cuttlefish family.

Researchers ran across this little guy at about 3,000 feet under and joked that it looked like a child's toy.

It looks like a Pokemon to me and it's probably now blind.

  1. Okay, they were having too much fun over this critter. Very odd looking indeed.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  2. Sandee: When you're stuck in a cramped undersea vessel, you're easily amused. As to his odd appearance, this poor little guy probably has never seen daylight before and here's some high-intensity light stuck right into his face... no wonder he's googly-eyed.

I'd say that's a given if the 'researchers' were naked at the time.

  4. Ahhhh. It makes me want to take him home and put him in my aquarium. I'd point at him and brag to people, "See, I caught a real Pokemon."

  5. Kid: Lol. Why in the world would you think the researders were naked? I meant the poor thing was blinded by the lights from the undersea vessel. This squid/cuttlefish-ish creature has never even seen daylight much less the kind of wattage that poured over its large eyes on this fateful encounter. I imagine it was similar to a human encountering a UFO.

  6. LL: Lol. That would be a something cool for sure, but unless you have a 3,000 foot aquarium, you wouldn't get to brag about this little guy for long.

  7. It is darling looking, but like all such deep sea creatures, it needs to be left alone.

  8. I guess I was just remembering how girls looked at me back in the day,...

  9. Messymimi: I think the researchers need to explore and document what they find for the betterment of the world's knowledge and I hope they don't do too much damage along the way.
