Cat Blog Friday
This Cat Blog Friday pic should've been posted last Friday, but I had a cold and...yada, yada, yada...
... a cat telling Santa his Christmas wishlist... two mousies, a squirrel, some Pounce treats, and those delicious little cans of tuna fillets in sauce...
Happy Friday, everybody!

Lonely Liveshot
John Kerry's recent visit to Iraq was a lonely one.
Per Powerline's Troops Halp Jon Carry In Irak , he got the silent treatment from the troops.
Kerry just doesn't get it.

Christmas Cheer
Click here to hear some Christmas cheer from my family to yours.
Turn up the volume because these reindeer can really sing... unlike our German shepherd Dax ;-)
Merry Christmas to all.

Reuters Pix 2006
PICTURES OF THE YEAR 2006 - A mouse rides on the back of a frog in floodwaters in the northern Indian city Lucknow June 30, 2006.
This photo caught my eye. In all, 207 photos were selected for Reuter's Pictures of 2006 some were notable, but some of the photos were a bit questionable.
Just one example: Is this photo of a woman dropping a skinned frog into a blender (to make a juice popular with working-class Peruvians) worthy of a Best of 2006 retrospective?
Not so much.
Macaca #1
Macaca has been named the most politically incorrect word of 2006 by the Global Language Monitor, a nonprofit group that studies word usage.
You won't believe what phrase came in second place .
Oh Margaret!

Holocaust Denial
From the LA Times comes Why They Deny The Holocaust By Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
Because, Ali says, "On top of nearly constant anti-Semitic propaganda, much of the Muslim world hasn't even heard of it."
The educational system provided in Moslem countries is abysmal, to say the least, and needs to be brought into the 21st century. We ignore this at our peril.

What Happens To Your Body If You Drink A Coke Right Now?
Fascinating article breaks it down into specifics.
Now excuse me, I'm going to go drink a glass of water.

Olla Podrida
I found this in my in-box today as the Word of The Day:
olla podrida \ol-uh-puh-DREE-duh; oy-uh-\, noun;
plural olla podridas /-DREE-duhz/ or ollas podridas:
1. A stew of highly seasoned meat and vegetables.
2. A mixture; a hodgepodge.
This complex, Byzantine, at times long-winded work, which spent more than 60 weeks on Spain's best sellers list, throws together mystery, romance, and crime into one big mix like an olla podrida.
-- Lawrence Olszewski, review of The Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Library Journal, February 1, 2004
I'd never heard this word before, but it did accurately describe The Shadow of the Wind, a book which I very much enjoyed reading.
BTW olla podrida, if translated literally, means rotten pot.
The Flying Imams
From Startribune.com The Real Purpose Behind The Imam Publicity Blitz by Katherine Kersten.
Basically, Kersten concludes that CAIR and the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation are using the media circus surrounding the flying imams to revive the languishing 'End of Racial Profiling Act' via the new congressional leadership set to take over in January.
And some people sat out the last election... Go figure.
Meanwhile, I suggest that if moslems feel that they can't misbehave on planes without any repercussions from the airlines, well they can always go the Sister Bertril route.

Geminid Showers
The Geminid meteor show, arguably the best meteor shower of the year, peaks this week on Dec. 13th and 14th.
The source of the Geminids is a mysterious object named 3200 Phaethon. "No one can decide what it is," says Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office in Huntsville, Alabama.
For the rest of the details, go
here .
I'm definitely staying up for this one because unlike the Leonid showers on 11/18/06, these do seem more promising.
Blogger Bugs
I'm trying to post comments on my own blog but I'm being told they can't find results of www.blogger.com/comment...yada yada yada...
and then I'm being referred to:
bloggers making racist comments.
I'm pretty ticked off about this. I can only hope it's one of Bloggers recent avalanche of buggy behavior.

Bugger-In-Chief
From Kausfiles at Slate.com comes Clintonites Bug Di .
Mickey Kaus raises raises many questions (and provides many links) about Clinton NSA's secret spying on a member of the Royal Family:
Was there a warrant?
Was the secret spying approved by Congress beforehand?
What did "President" Rodham know about it and when did she know it?
Why bug Princess Di over her relationship over her relationship with a US billionaire Ted Forstmann?
I don't know about you, but I can't wait to hear the explanation the Clintonistas will come up with to hide the fact that the Clintons used the full extent of the presidency for perversion and strong-arm tactics to further their quest for power.

More Pelosium
Rep. Silvestre Reyes of Texas, who incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has tapped to head the Intelligence Committee botches easy intel quiz .
Reyes didn't know that al Qaeda was a Sunni organization and also couldn't answer questions posed about Hezbollah either.
Oh Margaret!
Another dose of the radioactive stoopid rays emanating from Nancy Pelosi's "leadership" and she hasn't even put up her new curtains yet.

Jeane J. Kirkpatrick 1926-2006
I was say to read in Drudge today that former U.N. Ambassador, Jeane J. Kirkpatrick, died in her sleep yesterday at the age of 80.
I don't have time to write a lengthy post about this fine American patriot, but I will include a rather timely quote from Bill Bennett.
Bennett said the Iraq Study Group so prominently in the news "would have been better with Jeane Kirkpatrick on it ... She had no patience with tyrannies, said they had to be confronted, you couldn't deal with tyrannies, that there were some people you could work with - these people you couldn't."
She will be missed.

Did They Or Not?
From WorldNetDaily's Jerusalem Bureau comes this report: Hamas Met Delegation Of Democrats: Source Claims U.S. Party Willing To Hold Dialogue With Terror Group .
Stacie Paxton, a spokeswoman for the Democratic National Committee, told WND the party was not aware of any meeting.
I think it would be easy enough to get to the bottom of this story. If the press were doing it's job, it would investigate this delegation of appeasers, don't you think?
I think the Republicans better demand some answers.

Post Post
This New York Post article Iraq 'Appease' Squeeze On W isn't pulling any punches.
It's all up to W now. Let's hope he doesn't go all wobbly on us.
Fact-Free Journalism
The WSJ Opinion Journal's Best Of The Web for yesterday had tons of goodies.
Scroll down to Fact-Free Journalism: Will Bunch, a reporter for the Philadelphia Daily News, is outraged at bloggers who've questioned an Associated Press story claiming that Iraqi Shiites had burned six Sunnis alive. But Bunch, wittingly or not, essentially concedes the argument.
Hmmm, sounds like another fake but accurate argument.
Scroll down further and read about The Rwanda New Times sources. At least they have a real source.
Scroll down to Today In History for a blast from 1997 and a livid Lewinsky.
Like I said, it's full of goodies.
Remember Pearl Harbor
Beer Here!
And it better be cold or else!
According to STLtoday.com , a St. Louis woman shot her husband four to five times in the chest after he tried giving her a warm can of Stag beer.
And get this... the house had no electricity at the time!
There are some seriously messed up people in the world.

Carter Fiction
Checking out Powerline blog yesterday, I came across an interesting post about Jimmuh Carter entitled Errors, omissions, inventions and falsehoods .
In short, Professor Kenneth Stein of Emory University, is terminating his long association with the Carter Center, solely as a result of Carter's new book, Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid.
In Professor Stein's words, "President Carter's book... is not based on unvarnished analyses; it is replete with factual errors, copied materials not cited, superficialities, glaring omissions, and simply invented segments."
The resignation letter is well worth the read. What I don't understand is, what took an intelligent person like Professor Stein so long to figure out that Carter is a liar and a cheat?

AP Bias
From Sunday's Boston Herald online comes Say No To AP’s Shoddy Work by Jules Crittenden which exposes several incidents that the Associated Press has been delivering unbalanced reports about U.S. national politics for some time.
Unbalanced reports? I think Crittenden is being kind here, but he goes on to make
a better observation, "The AP, once a just-the-facts news delivery service, has lost its rudder. It has become a partisan, anti-American news agency that seeks to undercut a wartime president and American soldiers in the field. It is providing fraudulent, shoddy goods. It doesn’t even recognize it has a problem."
That's all fine and dandy, but where else does a newspaper go to get the news?
And besides this article, have you even heard any of this from the MSM?
I guess Kramer and Britney non-news plays better than media bis.
Vodka Bottle
Did you hear about the two-month old hospitalized with an ethanol level of 0.364 - more than 4 times the legal limit for an adult?
Unbelievable, but true. Drunk Baby .
Although the article doesn't mention it, I heard on the news that vodka had "accidentally" been mixed into the formula instead of water.
That's about as possible as "accidentally" baking the baby in a casserole.

Why me?
Why in the world would Jimmy & Rosalind Carter think that sending me a cheesy best wishes card would somehow compel me to send them one penny of my hard-earned cash?
This Blast From 2004 is more likely to work at our house.
Is it just me, or does everyone else get these mailings?
Boldly Go!
From Yahoo.com comes word that renowned physicist, Stephen Hawking, now says humans must colonise planets in other solar systems using "Star Trek"-style propulsion or face extinction.
"Sooner or later disasters such as an asteroid collision or a nuclear war could wipe us all out." Hawkin concludes.
Pretty bleak especially when you consider how far NASA is from warp drive propulsion.
