Can Cold Water Clean Dishes?

This is for all the germ conscious folks that worry about using cold water to clean.

John went to visit his 90 year old grandfather in a very secluded, rural area of Georgia.

After spending a great evening chatting the night away, John's grandfather prepared breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast. However, John noticed a film like substance on his plate, and questioned his grandfather asking, "Are these plates clean?"

His grandfather replied, "They're as clean as cold water can get them. Just you go ahead and finish your meal, Sonny!"

For lunch the old man made hamburgers. Again, John was concerned about the plates as his appeared to have tiny specks around the edge that looked like dried egg and asked, "Are you sure these plates are clean?"

Without looking up the old man said, "I told you before, Sonny, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now don't you fret, I don't want to hear another word about it!"

Later that afternoon, John was on his way to a nearby town and as he was leaving, his grandfather's dog started to growl, and wouldn't let him pass. John yelled and said, "Grandfather, your dog won't let me get to my car".

Without diverting his attention from the football game he was watching on TV, the old man shouted .

"COLDWATER, GO LAY DOWN!!!!"

Ew!
Once when my grandparents were visiting my dad took his dinner plate, put it on the floor, had the dog lick it and then very ceremoniously attempted to put it back into the cabinet. His mother lost her mind and he laughed and laughed.
There's something to be said for torturing old ladies with disgusting jokes!

Yeah, but it's not so funny to see your family history propped up on a web site for everyone to see and laugh at.

Gosh, cube, this was embarrassing. I'm going back to the hills now.

cube, that is hysterical! I was hoping that somewhere locked in this post was the possibility that cold water actually works since I'm continually yelling at my kids to raise the water temp when they're cleaning their dishes. I'll have to tell them to read your post!

RGMB - I would suggest against having your kids read this. - It would be preferable for them to continue using lukewam water.

Great post Cube!

I heard dogs have cleaner mouths then we do, but I'd still prefer Dawn and some hot water.

e.b. - dogs lick their hineys and eat cat poop! how clean can their mouths be?

Don't blame me I am just the messenger. Some hineys are cleaner than others....oh I don't know it's just what I heard. Do you want a link? HUH HUH? Do you want a piece of me? Come on..
